Dr. Andrea Morehouse

Andrea Morehouse is an independent scientist who works on a variety of conservation and management issues related to large carnivores in multi-use landscapes. She moved to Alberta in 2007 and completed both an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in ecology at the University of Alberta. Through her research, she strives to effectively engage scientists, managers, and community members to develop and implement scientifically sound and socially workable wildlife conservation and management strategies. She is a 2017 Wilburforce Fellow in Conservation Science; serves on the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s Conservation Advisory Committee and the IUCN  Bear Specialist Group’s North American Bear Expert Team; is a past president of the Alberta Chapter of The Wildlife Society; and is active in other professional societies. She lives in the Pincher Creek area with her husband, two boys, and dog.

Dr. Kadambari Devarajan is an engineer-turned-ecologist who recently finished her PhD in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology at UMass Amherst and is starting as a postdoctoral research fellow at URI. She is interested in the application of technology to monitor and conserve biodiversity, particularly the use of quantitative tools to visualize and analyze ecological data. Her current research focuses on the effects of global change and species interactions on carnivore communities at multiple spatial and temporal scales. A mud-on-boots field biologist, she has done fieldwork on carnivores in India and Zambia. As a passionate science communicator, she is actively involved with a number of science storytelling, advocacy, and outreach programs, and has been a part of several initiatives working towards enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility at various levels.

Dr. Heather Johnson

Heather Johnson is a Research Wildlife Biologist at the USGS Alaska Science Center in Anchorage, Alaska. Heather has a PhD in Wildlife Biology from the University of Montana, a MS in Wildlife Science from the University of Arizona, and a BS in Ecology from the University of California, San Diego. Heather’s research focuses on understanding how climate- and anthropogenic-driven changes in habitat conditions influence the behavior and demography of large mammals, and the effectiveness of management strategies for minimizing impacts. Prior to working for the USGS, Heather conducted research for Colorado Parks and Wildlife and California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
